Description
Abel (Azilsartan Medoxomil) is a drug for lowering high blood pressure. It belongs to the category of angiotensin II receptor antagonists (AT1 subtype). The drug is used to treat essential (primary) arterial hypertension. Blockade of AT1 receptors prevents the development of the effects of angiotensin II mediated by these receptors, which prevents the adverse effect of angiotensin II on vascular tone and is accompanied by a decrease in elevated blood pressure.

Breast-feeding: Azilsartan medoxomil is not recommended for use in breast-feeding due to lack of appropriate data. During breastfeeding, it is advisable to initiate alternative treatment with a more advanced safety profile, especially when feeding a newborn or preterm infant.
Fertility: There are no data on the effect of azilsartan medoxomil on human reproductive function. According to preclinical studies, azilsartan did not affect the reproductive function of female and male rats.
