Bird Biotic (Doxycycline Hyclate) is used to treat local or systemic infections affecting birds. It is recommended for use in most kinds of pet birds, as well as exotic birds and pigeons. The active ingredient contained in this medicine is classified as a tetracycline antibiotic, and it is known to be effective against gram negative bacteria, some gram-positive bacteria, anaerobic bacteria and various other types of microorganisms. It works by inhibiting the process in which the bacteria synthesize their essential proteins. This helps to eliminate the bacteria and allows the infection and its symptoms to clear up.

Dosage and AdministrationBird Biotic (Doxycycline Hyclate) powder is provided in sachets, and the amount of medicine contained in each sachet is 100mg. There are a total of 12 sachets provided. If you suspect your pet bird to be suffering from an infection, take it to a veterinarian so that its condition can be properly diagnosed. Follow the instructions given to you. Usually, owners of pet birds will be told to mix the entire contents of a single sachet into 8 ounces of clean water, which is then used as the bird`s drinking water. Owners will need to mix a new solution every day, and any of the solution leftover from the previous day should be thrown out. The duration of antibiotic treatment is generally 7 to 10 days.
